About Tide and Timber Travel

About The Owner

Hi, I’m Amber! I’m a lifelong nature and adventure lover, born and raised in Maryland. With a B.S. in Environmental Science and a Master’s in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources, I’ve spent years exploring, learning about, and working alongside the wildlife and landscapes that make this region so special.

I grew up fishing with family, exploring the Chesapeake Bay, and soaking in every wild space I can find. My professional experience has been centered on studying and conserving natural resources, from tagging marine life to long-term field surveys, giving me a deep respect for the environments I love to share with others.

For over eight years, I’ve been planning trips for myself, family, and friends — from Eastern Shore escapes to Alaska adventures, Disney and Universal Studios vacations, and coastal getaways up and down the East Coast. I love helping people experience places in ways that are seamless, memorable, and deeply connected to nature. Often, I’m the one my friends and family turn to for the best food, activities, and hidden gems while traveling.

The Story Behind Tide and Timber Travel

I started Tide + Timber Travel for a simple reason: nature changes people.

I’ve spent years studying and enjoying wildlife, landscapes, and getting hands on experience with species from blue crabs to white-tailed deer. But the moments that stayed with me weren’t scientific — they were the rare kind that stick with you for a lifetime. The sunrise on a quiet riverbank while fishing. The sudden stillness when a grizzly bear appears between the trees. The awe of watching a humpback whale come to the surface before diving. The kind of peace that doesn’t come from a screen, a desk, or a routine — only from being fully present outdoors.

Traveling to those places changed the way I lived, worked, and breathed. Planning those trips, digging deep into locations, finding local guides, learning about the wildlife, and mapping out the perfect routes and restaurants was something I loved just as much as the adventures themselves.

Tide and Timber Travel exists because I believe more people deserve those kinds of life-changing experiences without the stress of planning them alone.

My Mission

To help people reconnect with nature through expertly planned, unforgettable wildlife and nature-focused travel by combining the knowledge of a biologist with the care of a personal travel advisor.

I handle the research, logistics, booking, timing, weather considerations, wildlife patterns, and planning details, so you can focus on what actually matters: being immersed in nature.

Who I Serve (and Who Will Love Working With Me)

Tide and Timber Travel is intentionally designed for travelers who:

🌲 Want nature to be the point of the trip.

Your dream getaway isn’t a resort lobby — it’s whale watching at dawn, a quiet forest cabin, remote fishing, backcountry wildlife viewing, glacier hikes, or the kind of landscapes that make you forget your phone exists.

🧭 Have high standards — and want the best experience, not the most generic.

You’re not looking for package tours pulled from a brochure. You want curated, reviewed, personally vetted recommendations from someone who knows what makes a trip truly special.

💸 Don’t want the stress of planning (and don’t mind paying for it).

Your time is valuable. And you’d rather invest in a seamless, deeply thought-out trip than spend weeks comparing options or researching logistics. You want peace of mind, clarity, and confidence that everything is handled.

🦉 Appreciate expertise.

You value having a biologist-travel advisor guide the planning — someone who understands nature, seasonality, safety, and the ins-and-outs of travel logistics for the best chance at real, meaningful trips.

If that’s you, we’ll get along perfectly.
