About Tide + Timber Travel

Owner, Amber Staples

Amber is a nature and adventure lover born and raised in Southern Maryland, now living on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources from Clemson University. Amber created Tide + Timber Travel out of her love for wildlife, the outdoors, and her knack for planning smooth, well-organized vacations.

Amber has spent her whole life outdoors — fishing with her dad and soaking in everything the Chesapeake Bay has to offer. For the past eight years, she has worked and explored along the East Coast, focusing on wildlife and fisheries management. From tagging sharks for research to crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay for long-term surveys, her work centers on understanding and sustaining natural resources. Through responsible travel — including ethical hunting, fishing, and conservation-minded experiences — Amber helps others enjoy wild places while supporting the people and environments that make them special.

She has also been planning solo and group trips for herself, her family, and friends for over eight years, to destinations such as Alaska, Ocean City, the Outer Banks, Massachusetts, Florida, Virginia Beach, Disney World, Disneyland, Universal Studios, and beyond. Often, Amber is the go-to in her family for the best food and travel recommendations.
